Day of the Badger is back! Save the date to support UniverCity Alliance during this campus-wide day of giving.
What is Day of the Badger?
Day of the Badger is an annual celebratory event hosted by the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association. It’s a spirited day of giving that unites alumni, friends, and students to strengthen the university, generate pride as a Badger community, and raise funds for work happening across UW–Madison.
When is it happening?
This year, Day of the Badger is April 16-17. The entire philanthropic event covers 1,848 minutes to recognize the year UW–Madison was founded: 1848! Save the date here.

What am I supporting when I donate to UniverCity Alliance?
Your generous funds help UniverCity continue carrying out its mission of being the Wisconsin Idea in Action. UniverCity does not receive any funding from the university administration, academic departments, or the state budget and relies solely on philanthropy and funding from community partners to operate. When you give to UniverCity, you are supporting:
- Site visits across Wisconsin to UniverCity Alliance’s partner communities. Students gain valuable learning experiences by visiting partner communities, and it’s an opportunity to build stronger relationships across the state.
- UW–Madison instructors applying their teaching and research to Wisconsin communities. UniverCity Alliance can provide some funding to instructors who may need additional resources to conduct their community-based learning projects, such as doing water testing for understanding the health of Koshkonong Creek, evaluating the Alternatives to Incarceration through Education program in Racine County, and creating outreach materials for school-age youth trying to prevent blue-green algae blooms in Eau Claire County.
- Wisconsin communities who may want to partner with UniverCity Alliance but can’t cover the full cost. UniverCity Alliance hopes to work with any Wisconsin community committed to addressing local priorities, but some smaller localities may not be able to cover the full cost. With your donations, UniverCity can work with more communities across the state.
- Student scholarship and research expenses
