With the support of generous donors, UniverCity Alliance surpassed its fundraising goal during the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association’s fifth annual Day of the Badger event on April 16-17.
UniverCity raised $7,155 from 30 individual gifts, smashing its goal of 20 gifts and unlocking a $20,000 matching gift from Jeffrey and Sara Wiesner; John and Linda Nelson; John Holton and Colleen Goggins. Supporters stepped up to the challenge, and their generous gifts will continue supporting the Wisconsin Idea in action!
“Because of our generous donors, we can continue to build strong relationships with communities across Wisconsin, provide enhanced learning experiences for students, and support instructors who are dedicated to community-based learning,” UniverCity Alliance Managing Director Gavin Luter said. “Thank you for your support!”
UniverCity does not receive any funding from the university administration, academic departments, or the state budget and relies solely on philanthropy and funding from community partners to operate. When people give to UniverCity, they are supporting:
- Site visits across Wisconsin to UniverCity Alliance’s partner communities that provide students with valuable learning experiences and the university with an opportunity to build stronger relationships across the state
- UW–Madison instructors applying their teaching and research to Wisconsin communities who may need additional resources to conduct community-based learning projects
- Wisconsin communities who may want to partner with UniverCity Alliance but can’t cover the full cost
- Student scholarships and research expenses
