About Katie

Katie Freeman is the Managing Director of UniverCity Alliance. Since joining UW–Madison in 2017, she has managed high-impact academic programs rooted in community engagement, first serving as Program Manager of the Undergraduate Certificate in Global Health in CALS and then as AHEC Statewide Program Manager in SMPH. Before her time in higher education, her career centered on utilizing tourism in sustainable international development. Katie holds a bachelor’s degree from UW-Stevens Point and a Master of Public Affairs in Sustainability and Nonprofit Management from Indiana University. She is elated to work in the Nelson Institute and remains dedicated to fostering robust, community-driven partnerships across Wisconsin.
