Pearly Wong

Pearly Wong is in a joint PhD program of cultural anthropology and environment and resources with the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. Her current dissertation focuses on mobilities and agencies of community development actors in the Kathmandu Valley Nepal. Her broader interests are in the field of education, community development, environment justice, and reentry. She has taught courses on international development, environment and sustainability. She worked as a short-term environmental justice policy analyst with Wisconsin DNR in 2022 and received a Mellon Public Humanities Fellowship to work with the UW Odyssey Project to provide prison education throughout the state of Wisconsin. Prior to her graduate program with UW-Madison, she worked in the field of community development and natural resource management in Nepal, Cameroon, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.
