UniverCity Year campus, community partners to present at Wisconsin Idea Conference

On March 27 at the Wisconsin Idea Conference, hear from UniverCity Year (UCY) campus and community partners about working with communities and brainstorm how to connect more courses and research interests with Wisconsin communities. 

UniverCity Alliance is co-sponsoring and participating in the Wisconsin Idea Conference, which is organized by the Morgridge Center for Public Service and co-sponsored by multiple other campus units. This year’s theme will explore, “Are we ready? Actualizing the Wisconsin Idea through community engagement.”  

The conference, running from 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., will take place at Union South. Select talks will be streamed online. The full breakout session schedule can be found here.

University of Wisconsin–Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin will kick off the conference with opening remarks. Reverend Judge Everett Mitchell, who was elected to the Dane County Circuit Court and previously served as the UW–Madison’s director of community relations, will deliver the keynote address. 

UCY’s panel – Wisconsin Idea in Action: How to work with communities through UniverCity Year – is from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Varsity Hall. This session will showcase examples of faculty members who are responding to community needs through UCY partnerships. After the panel, attendees are encouraged to brainstorm how to connect their course and research interests with Wisconsin communities.
