The City of Portage worked with UniverCity Alliance as part of a partnership with Columbia County from 2021-24.
UniverCity Year has partnered with 29 local governments and communities across Wisconsin. Its most recent cohort welcomed nine communities – a record for the program.

Through Columbia County’s partnership with UniverCity year, UW–Madison student Alan Tipple researched strategies to recruit and retain new workers whose primary language is not English.
UW-Madison Master of Public Health students partnered with Columbia County’s village of Rio through UniverCity Year.
As a result of the UniverCity Year partnership, the village of Rio in Columbia County is working with the local high school to implement new EMS outreach programs.
